STAGE 2 UNIT 4 NSW PDHPE movement, relationships, safety, identity, well-being.

  • Movement skill and physical activity
  • Respectful relationships and safety
  • Identity, health and wellbeing
  • Self-management and interpersonal skills

This complete unit teaches students about respectful relationships by developing understanding of conflict, bullying and intimidation, and promoting safe upstander behaviours in online and offline contexts. Students develop safety behaviours for water and sun exposure and explore how community messages support health and wellbeing. They investigate how connection to Culture, Country and Community supports identity and wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, including bush foods. In PE, students apply strategies and movement skills across a range of games and identify activities that promote enjoyment and community participation. Students use feedback to improve their performance.

The PDHPE K–6 units are designed as a 16-lesson sequence, comprising of 8 PDH lessons and 8 PE lessons, with 4 optional consolidation lessons. The lessons are written in sequence to show the flow of learning and the building of concepts across lessons. To implement the syllabus and meet teaching requirements, teachers are expected to teach one PDH and one PE lesson each week.
