This unit teaches students to be safe road users, respond appropriately in emergencies and practise hygiene and self-care to support their health and wellbeing. They explore personal identity by describing physical and social changes. In PE, students develop balance, running and catching skills and apply them in games that enhance safety, enjoyment and fair play. Students build self-management skills by recognising emotional responses and understanding the link between feelings, words and body language.
The PDHPE K–6 units are designed as a 16-lesson sequence, comprising of 8 PDH lessons and 8 PE lessons, with 4 optional consolidation lessons. The lessons are written in sequence to show the flow of learning and the building of concepts across lessons. To implement the syllabus and meet teaching requirements, teachers are expected to teach one PDH and one PE lesson each week.
